- Do you believe that media images or public opinion are responsible for the characteristics of beauty becoming universal stereotypes?
In this photo we see two images, one of a natural human and another with a person after they have been"fixed". I feel and see that a lot of times in the media we see people who are "wrong" or "not pretty" and they try to use photoshop to make them seem like all of the other post processed people in the world. I personally don't like this because if you have a person who is beautiful because of who they are why would you want to change them. - Do you believe people admiring media images of glamorous models can do any harm?
The media is greatly hurting the way that young members of our society feel about themselves and i don't think that is right. Personally she looks better the way she naturally is. This message is generally hard to reach our youth and it leads to serious health problems. It is very upsetting to know that our media is hurting our society.

Activity 4
Find a photograph where the photographer has used a slow shutter speed and describe the subject matter including the background. Discuss any technical difficulties the photographer may have encountered and how these mat have been overcome.
Epstein
This is the complete opposite of a fast shutter speed because this lets more light in and that causes fast moving objects to blur out. i personally don't like this type of photography because it is hard to get a good subject to focus on. in this photo the subject is a girl as a train passes by. this could be hard to get if there is eavy traffic on the train platform and if the subject moves. it could also be hard since the train only passes once so the artist must know the right exposure to take in order to get the proper image.
Time Activity 2
Find an example of a photograph where the photographer has used a very fast shutter speed and describe the subject matter including the background. Discuss any technical difficulties the photographer may have encountered and how he or she may have overcome them.
In this photo the artist used a vey fast shutter speed to capture the moment when a paint droplet hits a can of paint. i enjoy it because you get to see all of the colors and the sudden impact that you normally could not see with the bare eye. the photographer probably hit a lot of problem along the way because this moment is so quick and it probably took many tries and cans of paint. but one way that they might have overcome this was to take burst photos and find the best one.

Time Activity 1
Look at a Henri Cartier-Bresson photograph and discuss why you think that capturing the decisive moment has added to the picture’s quality.
Cartier-Bresson
With a brief look at this photo you see a man and a cat having a face off. This is a much better type of composition rather than having just the man or just the cat because of it rarity and suddenness. The photo is framed using the building so that you really focus on the subject that probably didn't stay in that position for long. This makes the image all the better because he had to see that and take the picture right away with out thinking because that moment did not last long and the picture would have turned out with a completely different meaning and composition. The feeling that this photo gives me is the feeling that friendship is the most important thing that you could have, but if there is no cat or man it gives me the impression of loneliness. That is why the decisive moment is so important.

Activity 5
Create a landscape utilizing foreground subject matter to create a sense of depth. Discuss how the resulting image is likely to be read by the viewer.
I am a fan of the above picture for several reasons. The first is the use of man and nature and how they can co-exist. But I feel that the image can be interpreted as how the most beautiful parts of nature are often off limits. in the foreground you see barbs, signs and a fence but as soon as you pass that you see a beautiful mountain landscape. So even though that we might be focused on the limits in our life if you look past those there is always true beauty.

Activity 4
Create two photographs in a location with tall buildings or trees using both formats. Create a closed and open landscape at one location. Discuss the different ways we read the resulting images.
These two images are very similar and different in many ways. Both of them are taken in Sedona Arizona and express the vibrane in the red rock. However, the first image is a closed landscape photo with some framing from the trees. Then the other photo is an open landscape with a full Sedona mountain in frame. Both are landscapes and both of the same area but the type of photograph that was produced is different. This just shows how diverse an area can be with photo oburtunities. So there is always something to shoot.
